The 13th President Of India: Pranab Mukherjee
An upper-division clerk, college teacher, journalist, MP, minister and now President of the world’s largest democracy. Pranab Mukherjee had once facetitiously told his sister he’d like to be reborn, of all things, as a horse pulling the President of India’s carriage. In a retort that seems incredulous now, his sister had replied he’d be riding the carriage instead, in this life itself. On 25 July, as the 13th President of India, the sibling prophecy came true: Mukherjee rode the carriage to his swearing-in ceremony.
In other astral details, it appears the number 13 has special significance for Mukherjee.
The story goes, Narasimha Rao had foretold it would be lucky for him. Mukherjee was
married on 13 July 1957 and was first elected to the Lok Sabha on 13 May 2004. His office
in Parliament was in room No. 13. He moved from 13, Talkatora Road to the Rashtrapati
Bhavan. In a welcome departure from his predecessors, he’s promised he won’t be
changing too many of the furnishings.
