3 Assam Rifles jawans injured in a IED blast in Imphal
The bomb was rigged in a scooter and went off when the jawans were on a routine patrol on Wednesday morning

A powerful IED blast took place on the busy streets of Keishampat Junction in the heart of the Imphal city at 8.30 am on Wednesday 5 September morning in which three Assam Rifles jawans were seriously injured.
According to police, the bomb was rigged in a scooter and detonated using a remote device to coincide with a routine area patrolling of the Assam Rifles. The jawans were injured from splinters while a car, a van and the scooter in which the bomb was rigged, were damaged.
The jawans were taken to Regional Institue of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal and are said to be out of danger. Following the blast, locals residing in the vicinity of Keishampat Junction held a sit-in protest against the blast.
