IN A BID to cash in on the growing tablet market, HCL Infosystems is all set to launch a third generation (3G) tablet in August this year.
“Our soon-to-be-launched tablet is called Y2 and it will cost somewhere around Rs 18,000,” said Gautam Advani, Executive Vice-President and Head (Mobility), HCL Infosystems, on Tuesday while launching the AIO (All-in-One) PC under its beanstalk range.
HCL entered the tablet market in October last year with the launch of ME TabXI and then in April this year, it launched another tablet, ME U1, priced at Rs 7,999.
“We entered the tablet market by launching ME X1 and within a few months we were able to grab a good market share in the category. We realised that after our second launch in April this year, our market share jumped by almost 3 percent,” said Advani.
It is not just the domestic market where HCL products are in demand but also in international markets, he added.
