Clearly impressed by Nargis Fakhri’s stone-like visage in Rockstar, Akshay Kumar has offered Fakhri a three-film deal with his production house. Undoubtedly, Khiladi Kumar has picked up his keen business sense from producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who just signed Akki on for Housefull 3 despite the fact that he is yet to zero in on a director, a writer or even a story for the film. Nadiadwala also said that it will be “interesting” to see Kumar in a romantic action film (what other kind of cinema has Akki ever done?). Can’t wait to see what experimental genre Fakhri is about to blow us away with next.

    Late Bloomer

After all that we’ve heard about Priyanka Chopra’s path-breaking performance in Barfee, we’re growing weary of waiting to be wowed. The film’s August release has been pushed back again following rumours that Ranbir Kapoor wanted the film to be delayed for ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone and Priyanka’s delayed shooting schedule. Anurag Basu, the weary director, has finally demanded an explanation from the big guys at UTV about the eternal deferral.

    Universally Yours

    Emraan Hashmi

This month brings a big milestone for tonsil-tennis player Emraan Hashmi, who will soon be releasing his first U-certificate film for Universal Studios. A few years ago, Hashmi had expressed concern over his raunchy image, when a group of children confessed to the actor that they loved to watch his songs but were not allowed to watch his films. Er, perhaps the children in question were pushing for an alternative career, and not more films Emraan?

Although rumours of Madhuri Dixit Nene’s signing spree had us wondering if the ageing star was growing desperate, we’re relieved to discover that Madhuri has been loading up on the endorsements, while staying picky with her films. After Vishal Bhardwaj’s Dedh Ishqiya, Madhuri has now signed Anubhav Sinha’s Gulabi Gang, where she plays a tough, foul-mouthed gangster.
