Reliance on technology makes youth confused

THE GENERATION today has grown up with technology and they rely upon it to perform better. Today’s youth may be enthusiastic, hardworking and full of life. However, they are badly affected by new challenges like identity crisis, lack of confidence, low esteem, sense of hopelessness and confusion.
Armed with Blackberries, laptops, smart phones and other gadgets, Generation Y is plugged in 24X7. They prefer to communicate through email and text rather than face-to-face contact. They prefer online technology to traditional lecture-based presentations. The social networking sites are a fast evolving domain of the teens and young adults. I think it is replacing all other activities in today’s date as these networks are associated with the web applications that facilitate information sharing, interoperability and are interactive. It is mandatory for the teens and the youth to know how these sites are being used in the corporate and business worlds.
Approximately 90 per cent of the youth uses computers and 59 per cent of them are online. This net-savvy generation has benefited immensely from it, be it in terms of gaining knowledge or building network with the right people. The professional networking sites give them a platform to build their identity and interact with the right people to boost their knowledge and self-confidence. They use the new media extensively and depend on it to communicate to the world as well.
Professional networking sites like ours give them opportunities to take advice and guidance from the industry experts. The youth today craves instant result and their professional desires are met by these professional networks.
The smart and efficient youths of today, aided with the facilities of networking sites and internet are mostly successful. And for me, an ideal and successful youth may be defined as a balanced individual exhibiting a good knowledge of the surroundings, always up to date, ready for the forth coming challenges, informed by absolute moral values and whose behaviour demonstrates qualities such as self-confidence, honesty and humility in everything he/she does.

Today, the networking sites are a job and career (networking) assembly to young and aspiring professionals across verticals and industries. They act as a catalyst in providing global/international career and job opportunities to the youngsters. Every subsequent individual in India holds an MBA degree, which keeps all of them on the same array. Their MBA has to be clubbed with an extra element that distinguishes them from the rest. This is one essential reason as to why any student needs to have a profile on a professional networking website.
In this digital era being on a professional networking site helps you control your online identity and control what you want others to see about you. It not only helps you understand the current market scenario but also gather a good understanding about the market requirement, which is important to inculcate or polish the skills required. It helps you collect information about your prospective employers, interact with professionals and build the right industry contacts. It helps you broaden your horizons and explore yourself and opportunities around you.
