Tata Unveils New Salt

TATA CHEMICALS Limited launched India’s first national brand of packaged iron fortified iodised salt on Thursday.
“We are proud to unveil Tata Salt Plus which we believe is an important embodiment of our company’s vision to serve society through science,” said R Mukundan, managing director, Tata Chemicals.
“Via Tata Salt Plus, we turn our focus to help our consumers fight iron deficiency, anaemia, by offering an affordable, organic way to help meet established daily iron and iodine requirements” he added.
Tata Salt Plus, is priced at an economical rate of Rs 20 per 1kg.
“It is the long awaited result of a 20 year research journey on double fortification technology & premix led by the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad,” said B Sesikeran, director, nin.
Ashvini Hiran, chief operating officer, Consumer Products Business, Tata Chemicals, informed that the company is planning to increase its capacity to eight lakh tonne from six lakh tonne, adding the company has spent Rs 180 crore for this expansion.
