Four mega industrial zones after elections
Binny Sharma
New Delhi
THE CENTRE is all set to announce the details of the four mega industrial zones that would be created along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat after the assembly elections are concluded.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textiles Anand Sharma while delivering the valedictory address at the conclusion of the 84th annual general meeting of FICCI on Wednesday. The centre is currently finalising details of the industrial zones with the administration of the four states. “As soon as the forthcoming assembly elections are concluded and their results declared, the commerce and industry ministry would declare comprehensive details of the proposed zones,” he said.
The Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor project, which would be funded by India and Japan, is expected to catapult economies of the seven states through which the corridor will run.
Referring to recently announced manufacturing policy, Sharma said that its execution will be a priority for the upa government as it is through this policy measure that the government has committed to create 100 million jobs in the next ten years.
